December 2009 Book

Our Cider House Rules discussion was this week and a group of gals have never had so much fun talking about abortions. Shannon was a great last-minute hostess due to Otis' unfortunate skunking incident at the Holt Hucker House.

For December, the meeting is going to keep with the spirit of the season and have not only yummy alcoholic nogs, but a cookie exchange.

And So it Begins...

This bookclub started in July 2009 out with four women, all transplants to Boston who loved to read and, well, to drink. We decided to meet monthly and discuss a book of our choosing, starting with the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Not exactly high brow literature, but the books are addictive, quick reads that yielded a really great dicussion.

What we've read so far as a bookclub:

  • August 2009: The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
  • September 2009: The History of Love by Nicole Krauss
  • October 2009: The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo by Stieg Larsson
After reaching out to my husband's intern class at Massachusetts General Hospital, our book club is expanding in numbers, and I thought that it might be fun to start this blog so that we can later look back on what we've read.

Our November 2009 selection is (drumroll, please) The Cider House Rules by John Irving.
